Synopsis:
"Checkout" is a story about a likable young man, Nick McCain, living in an idyllic small town who starts a secret computerized dating service in a supermarket. Curt, his bawdy brother, continually complicates Nick's life.

At the core of the story is Nick, maturing and finding true love with his childhood sweetheart, Noreen. Noreen has become a successful marketing guru in Los Angeles. Her father owns the hometown grocery store where both Nick and Curt work. His business is threatened with a possible takeover by a prominent California tycoon. Noreen's father asks her to come back to Webster to help save the grocery store. She succumbs to her dad's invitation and reunited with the local culture, friends, and particularly Nick.

Meanwhile, Nick has engineered a secret computer dating service and all the customers are meeting romantically between the lettuce and tomatoes, the buns and sausage, or amongst the flowers, etc.

The whole town is falling in love at the grocery store. Wonderfully entertaining complications ensue, provided by Nick's Italian mother, who can't let go; Almo, Nick's witty, gay coworking; Louie, Nick's stubborn uncle and first official customer; Chad, Noreen's arrogant fiancée and Curt, Nick's shallow, scheming, self-centered brother who's king of the come-ons.
