Tom-Li and her friends are part of a group of twenty
children aged 8 to 16, whose members come from diverse cultural backgrounds and
religions including Jews, Muslims, Christians and Druze. Together they form the
Arab-Jewish children’s circus.
This group, under the guidance of David Berry and Druze theater director Adnan
Tarabshe, has set out to produce a circus spectacle inspired by the classic
tale of "Aladdin."
David and Adnan arrive at the project with great ideology and commitment
combined with a fair amount of fear, not knowing how the Jewish and Arab
children will accept each other.
Along the way, it becomes apparent that the children will be the least of their
problems.
Cultural differences, language barriers, artistic ego and a loaded political atmosphere
make this a difficult act to balance.
